New International Journal on Aging
[13 December 2006 - Nordic Discussions on Social Gerontology] A new journal has been born: The International Journal of Ageing and Later Life. It is a free, online, refereed journal available here.
This blog explores the intersection of aging, creativity, purpose, transition, learning and well-being. It is edited by Steve Dahlberg.
"Exile is the cradle of nationality," according to Michael Higgins, Ireland's former minister of arts, culture and the Gaeltacht. We should "presuppose a sort of dialogue among exiles" who are together in a new place. Viewing ageing as "exile" offers a new (and positive) perspective about exile and ageing - one that can lead to older people better understanding their common "nationality" of what it means to be fully human - to be part of a greater whole.
